2025 Audition Information
Join the family of the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire and bring history to life! Individuals have the opportunity to audition for one of the ensembles below. No previous experience is required. Please fill out the Audition Google Form and prepare one of the following:
For Cast Ensembles: 30 second monologue read as a character of the Renaissance time.
For Vocal Ensembles: 16 measures of an acapella song
Auditions
Auditions will be held on 23 August from 10 AM-1 PM at South Lake High School, 15600 Silver Eagle Rd, Groveland, FL 34736. You do not need to be there the whole time, come in, audition, and you are free to leave.
Children under the age of 13 must have a parent or legal guardian on cast to participate.
Individuals selected to join the cast of the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire will need to attend all rehearsals for the show. Rehearsals are held at South Lake High School Saturdays from 10am until 1pm (Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27 & Oct. 4, 11) The last two rehearsals (Oct. 18 & 25) are held at the faire site. As there are a limited number of roles, cast members are required to participate in every rehearsal date and faire date.
Cast of Characters
Individuals have the opportunity to audition for one of the ensembles below. As there are limited number of positions, cast members are required to participate in every November Faire date.
No previous experience is required. Please prepare either a 30 second monologue or 16 bars of a song for this audition.
Nobility: People in pretty (and very heavy) costumes. Cast walks around all day in the sun and talks to patrons about politics and the price of tea. Two (2) years faire experience required. Monologue about your character.
House of Three Sisters: The first members of cast guests meet at faire. The House runs the Royal Crusade, lost and found, Handfasting and general information. If you have never experienced Renaissance Faire before, this is a great place to start. Monologue about your character.
Special Events/Roaming Nobility (21+): A special subset of Nobility who help run and entertain at special events held during faire (i.e. weddings, birthday parties, etc.) You may be called upon to serve alcohol to event guests as well as other duties. When there is not an event, you are welcoming guests at the front gate. Monologue about your character.
Guards: Cast who follow the nobility around and look like bouncers and run errands when needed and basically makes sure no one dies. They also tell a lot of jokes. Monologue, song, dance, tell bad dad joke, or move some furniture (all skills needed)
Noble Servants: Cast who follow the nobility around and carry ladies’ baskets and spreads the latest gossip at court… they also make sure no one dies. Monologue about your character.
Travelers: Cast of characters who have wandered from all over Europe and have managed to set up camp in out village. The tell stories, jokes, sing songs and teach silly dances. They also roll around in the dirt a lot... Monologue, song, dance, roll around on the ground, become a chair.
Rose Singer: Group of singers who have scheduled performances at faire. Please prepare 16 measures of an acapella song, preferably a Renaissance Faire Style.
Pub Singer (18+): Looking for a mini ensemble who are able to sing or play instruments to perform several sets at the pubs. Should be mostly family friendly, pub sing style. You will need to be self-directed and come up with your own song list that is not a duplicate of the Rose Singers Set.
Fairies (18+): Fairies flit around making magic (and mischief) and entertaining the smaller patrons (and those young at heart!) This ensemble has several scheduled stage show (including a fire show) and has a cost and time required for costumes. Please note under "Special Skills" if you have experience with fire spinning. Tell a story, or pantomime a story.
Mermaids & Pirates (18+): Mermaids live in our grotto and tell stories of their undersea adventures and take photos with guests. Preference will be given to those who already have their own tails. We also cast Pirate Mermaid Guards who tell stories of the sea, sing sea shanties, and protect the mermaids. Monologue about your character.
Wyrd Apothecary (21+, Invite/Returning Only): The Wyrd Sisters and their peculiar company tend to the village's apothecary; keeping the shire happy and healthy. Please note under "Special Skills" if you are First Aid/CPR certified.
Stage Crew: Crew are a core part of pulling together our site and making sure cast is well hydrated on faire days. Handy with tools is a bonus, but being able to lug around a case of water is even better. Looking for both adults & teenagers to volunteer. Your audition can just be why you want to be in the Stage Crew.
