2023 Audition Information

Join the family of the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire and bring history to life! Individuals have the opportunity to audition for one of the ensembles below. No previous experience is required. Please bring a completed audition form, headshot or recent picture, and one of the following:

  • For Cast Ensembles: 30 second monologue read as a character of the Renaissance time.

  • For Vocal Ensembles: 16 measures of an acapella song

Auditions this year will be held on 19 August at South Lake High School, 15600 Silver Eagle Rd, Groveland, FL 34736. Children under the age of 13 must have a parent or legal guardian on cast to participate.

Additional dates for callbacks may be added as needed. Individuals selected to join the cast of the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire will need to attend all rehearsals for the show. Rehearsals are held at South Lake High School every Saturday from 10am until 1pm leading up to the show. There will be two rehearsals at the faire site the two weekends prior to opening. As there are a limited number of roles, cast members are required to participate in every rehearsal date and faire date.

Cast of Characters

Individuals have the opportunity to audition for one of the ensembles below. As there are limited number of positions, cast members are required to participate in every November Faire date..

No previous experience is required. Please prepare either a 30 second monologue or 16 bars of a song for this audition.

  • Stage Crew: Crew are a core part of pulling together our site. Handy with tools is a bonus. Looking for both adults and teenagers to volunteer. Your monologue can just be why you want to be in Stage Crew.

  • Nobility: People in pretty (and very heavy) costumes. Cast walks around all day in the sun and talks to patrons about politics and the price of tea. Two (2) years Faire experience required.

  • House of the Three Sisters: The first cast members guests meet at the Faire. The House runs the Royal Crusade, lost and found, and general information.

  • Guards: Cast who follow the nobility around and look like bouncers and run errands when needed and basically makes sure no one dies. They also tell a lot of jokes..

  • Servants: Cast who also follow the Nobility around and carry ladies’ baskets and also make sure no one dies.

  • Travelers: Cast who interact with patrons, leading the King’s Crusade and support other special events (i.e. chess match, opening gate).

  • Rose Sisters: Group of women singers who have scheduled performances at faire. Please prepare 16 measures of an acapella song.

  • Fairies: Fairies flit around making magic (and mischief) and entertaining the smaller patrons (and those young at heart!). This ensemble has a scheduled stage show and has a cost and time required for costumes. Prior Faire experience required.

  • Mermaids: (18+) Mermaids live in our grotto and tell stories of their undersea adventures and take photos with guests. One mermaid will be “onstage” at a time with the others being gifted legs and helping with storytelling and crowd control. Preference will be given to those who already have their own tails. Prior Faire experience required.

  • The Wyrd Sisters/Plague Doctors: Mini ensemble that discuss the magic and medicine of the time period.
